Is Liveops a Scam?

Over the time I have run this blog, the most frequent question I have been asked is if the work at home company Liveops is a scam. Today, I decided to make a post about this to help relieve fears. Liveops is absolutely not a scam. I have worked with Liveops for some time now, and while I have not become a millionaire, I have made what I consider substantial money for my age. My paycheck has almost always arrived on time, and I have never had any problems with receiving my money. This is a lot more than I can say for most other work at home companies. Liveops has been mentioned as a legitimate work at home company on prominent sites such as Reader's Digest, ABC 7 News, CNN, and was even featured on Good Morning America, among many others. (Just check out the links!) Though I personally do not work full time with Liveops, I know of many people who do, and this is their primary source of income. If you are interested in working with Liveops or any work at home site, just remember to do your research. See if they are mentioned in any reliable newspapers or magazines, or if they are mentioned in the Better Business Bureau, or Ripoff Report. Follow your gut instincts. If something doesn't feel right, just don't do it! Make educated decisions about which companies are good and do research to back those companies up. Finally, don't use a company that you have to pay to work for. Use common sense; why should you have to pay to work for someone else? (Keep in mind though, that some work at home companies, including Liveops, do charge a background check fee, as you will be processing confidential customer information.) If you are interested in applying to work for Liveops, or would like more information, I have provided a link below. Good Luck!

They are not a scam. But I had shorted pay more times than it was correct. No longer work for them. Got tired of their games.

I thankfully have to agree with you. I have never had any major problems working for them and it was a pretty good job for the time I worked with Liveops.

LiveOps has over hired AGAIN we are virtually unable to get commits and when we are able to grab a commit we make almost nothing. Agents are working up to 3 hours without calls. These are not just the new agents old agents with decent stats also. This is an ongoing problem with LiveOps too many agents hired for the number of calls coming in. 30,000 agents hired in the last 2 years. If you want to work for far less than minimum wage this is the job for you.

Thanks for sharing the news...it is a huge relief. There are so many scams in the internet that is hard to believe any site for that matter.Such positive feedback helps.

Liveops took my 50.00 for the background check, which I passed and then said they had no job matches for me. I think it is a scam.

Wow! And I was just minutes away from submitting my forms and credit card this evening.

defenantly not a scam! i take calls for the leading infomercials! but the call volume is low now that im new, im averaging about 40 percent of my time on the phone. so 60 percent of the time im not making money but i just play games, the affinity offers are pretty rediculous if u ask me but luckily they are on a small percentage of the calls. great easy job if you can do well and warrent them giving u the call volume.

it's better than nothing if you don't have a job but with all the cuts in pay recently it's not as lucrative as it used to be.....even the best sales people now are making minimum wage if not less now

I currently work part-time for Liveops from my house. It is definitely not a scam. It is a honest way to make extra money without leaving your house. The best part is I get to decide on a weekly basis when and how much time I wished to work. I can also decide each day if I wish to drop/pickup additional time slots.

Liveops is a legitimate work at home opportunity. My husband started working for them part time as an independent agent. He is bringing in some nice additional income for the family. Liveops offers different positions and the one that pays the most is the Independent agent.

Although LiveOps is not a scam. I work for them right now. But they are now scamming people. I was recently laid off from what I do since along with thousands of others! Why? About 8 months ago during the recession hitting hardest. They came out with contracts saying every 4 months you are up for review of holding stats on selling things like Magazines (Infinities offer) that you have to keep them above 10% in all categories. IMPOSSIBLE to do for ever! The second you go below that you are fired! FOREVER! Why is Live Ops doing this? Because we also found out they had been hiring in new people. Thousands in fact at WAY LOWER WAGES! We were making 25 cent per minute talk time and built that company. Well these new hires were in a different room making 12 cent a minute! See the scam here? Well what do you expect from a crook who run Ebay? lol! They are cutting down to slave labor prices. Thats what companies do when they get large enough and have finished using you! But BEWARE! Don't think that they will not do it again when they want to keep more money in their pockets instead of paying you!

I just started as a LiveOps independent agent. They are definately NOT a scam. As an independent agent, you work for yourself and not as an employee. Since you will be self employed, you are responsible for your own telephone line, high speed internet, and computer equipment. LiveOPs does charge a $49.00 background check. If you have a blemished past or bad credit, do not apply because you will just be throwing away your money as you will not be invited to work for them. The reason is that agents are dealing with private information of callers such as credit cards, address, age, phone numbers, bank accounts, etc... I Made back my $49 on my first day. Also I have found that the more you commit and harder you work, the better the chances of getting invited to work a more lucritive campaign with bonuses. THe standard rate is $.25 per minute. Yes there are some that pay .13 cents a minute talk time but will also pay $9 to $12 commissions on closed sales. The incentive is to close sales. These rates are set by the clients and not LiveOps. Positives:work whenever you want, 2 hours or 12, its up to you. Hard work does not go unnoticed. Agents can get discounts and special pricing from LiveOps clients.
Negatives: Need to compete for available commitment time slots. Low call volumes can happen. no calls, no money. You have to be able to SELL, otherwise your conversion rates will look bad and could reslult in your account being suspended.

Thanks for the good info. I just started, and am doing my test calls, on my first commit. I am so nervous, have been on for 22 minutes and nothing yet!!! I really hope this is a legitimate way to make some money, or rather, worth the time you put into it.

liveops is a scam do not work for this company.... i have worked for them over 3 months now and thats all they do is want u to take commits and they dont give u credit for them actually they take more away then u put in!!!!! pay sucks and the stuff they try to sell are scams mostly!!!! if u want to work from home go find someone else!!!! i have a lawsuit against them and im will be getting awarded around $200,000.... then i have lawsuits on clients that they sell products for which ill be getting around 400,000 from each!!!! ill be rich after all said and done but i might die b4 i get that money!!!!!

Man I never seen such whining. LO is not a game, it is a legitimate job. You get out of it what you put into it. If you get a call, you need to sell that product. If you cant sell, then don't apply. All the whining in here is just ridiculous. I've been w/ LO for 7 years, and in 7 years, yes, I've been ce'd I've had low volume, high volume..and even lost DR due to low affinity stats. But you don't get fired..thats it. There are other lines you can work. As for that other idiot getting $200,000 from LO for suing them..haha thats the funniest horsepoop I've heard yet. If you're lazy and expect the money to just come to you..you need to find another job other than LO> they send calls based on stats. The best seller, the best calls. The ones that can't sell, sit. No beating around the bush.

TinkersGirl said...

To just prove that some people are not cut out for working at home, and don't pay attn or study their scripts.."Anonomous" speaks of "infinity" offers. They are not infinity offers..they are Affinity offers. They are regualted by the ftc, and if you do not read verbatim LO gets fined. You get ce'd its a mess. I've always had my stats on spot, til I just slacked off, and guess what?? They are now giving DR back so you can prove you can bring your stats up. I have that line again. I don't work it, cause if you are stellar in sales, you will get the higher pay lines...paid by the order pop and a small per min rate. I've been making no less than $26.00 hr But again...I do my job, instead of whining that it cant be done adn they're all out to get me..wah...tell the truth, don't tell what you want people to think.

TinkersGirl I agree with you completely! Dont see what all the whining is a about

sorry... liveops is NOT a scam. been working with em for more than 6 yrs. paid my background fee; got it back the first pay period with what i earned. started off part-time, averaging anywhere from $4- $6 an hour. took quizzes for different products, learned the scripts and upsells; worked hard and now i average anywhere from $18-$23+/- an hour depending on the days and hours i CHOOSE to work and the incentives offered. i usually can average that with out bonuses (stars for extra $).

i've weathered the bumps that have gone on with liveops along the way throughout these years. i have loved that when i didn't feel like working for weeks at a time, i didn't have to answer to any one and i still love that i can take time off when ever i need or want to. (of course, if i don't work, i don't get paid, but i usually plan for those times).

liveops is going through growth and there is continued change. i have read about what some of the other seasoned agents have been experiencing and i feel bad for them but i don't fully understand it all since i have not been experiencing it myself. i have had my share of commits with out calls for an hour or so but this was mostly in the beginning as was just learning the ropes and building my stats. it is SUPER RARE for me to sit with out calls now. i usually get back to back calls when i commit and do pretty good even when i log in uncommitted. (my stats are high and my performance is too.)

I have a number of lines (DR, SalesPro2, Outbound, High Response, transcription) and because i had more than i could handle i even let go of a few lines. There are many other opportunities with other lines still waiting for me to take on, (insurance, pizza hut... i do the ProFlowers on mother's Day and Valentine's Day) but i can't handle anymore right now.

i realize that with most companies this size, there will be problems and glitches with the changes, and change will always be something we must all adapt to no matter where we work.

...it takes time to build up your stats. the more you quizz and learn the scripts the better you get. there are teleconferences that anyone can take for free where you get learn and get tips from other agents who have mastered a particular product.

i've taken a LOT of time of as a single mother of four kids when they were younger or when i was sick, had personal problems or just because i wanted a week or two off for r&r. this is probably one of the biggest things for me that has kept me holding on to this work... that and the great $ i can make. some people work it part time. i know couples that work it together. there are some that have degrees and worked out in the corporate world and won't get back out there because there was MORE b.s. to deal with there. (another reason i haven't looked for something else. i like being my own boss and working when i want to and making as much or as little as i feel like).

there are many inspiring agents that support each other on the forums (pay no attention to the bashers and whiners) and they encourage each other with the goals they set to make $500 a month; others set goals for $1000, $2000 a month and the hottest group are the ones that let nothing stop them from making $3000 or more a month.

it's up to you.

there have been times when they immediately log something that i earned as incentive pay (or for whatever) on my invoice, but by the end of the week they usually caught it and they pay me. i don't worry when this happens. they have always paid me. (i've even won a few kewl products and $50 in some of their drawings they often have) =)

i suppose if i am ever affected to such a degree that i no longer have the opportunity to EARN that much, i will consider looking for WORK else where. for now, i WORK hard and get out of it what i put into it. i love the choices i have available.

oh, one other thing... i read about the liveops "system" having problems with the phone panel, but again this is something i don't experience problems with. i use a mac. if i have updates installed and settings are correct, i do fine. the only thing i had problems with was the liveops university but i think i finally go my settings figured out for that too and am ok. when i use to use Windows operating system, i was FOREVER experiencing crashes and getting bumped from the phone panel. don't have that problem any more when i am reading that everyone else is ( i LOVE my mac! =D ). i use safari browser or firefox.

so, again... sorry, from my perspective and experience from the past 6 years, liveops is NOT a scam.

good luck to you. =)

sorry about the double postings.

ps if you don't think you will like sales, it's probably not for you. if you don't think you can keep your cool with rude, snaughty and snappy "customers", this definitely is not for you. my sister, step-mom, niece and other friends applied and got brought on as agents; i even trained them but it just wasn't for them. this work is not for everyone.

If you are not a Telemarket Sales type of person, or sales type of person in general for that matter, then this job is not for you and you shouldn't even waste your money on the background check fee and paying for a monthly second phonefee and initial second line installation fee. Sales people are a different breed of folk and need to be able to handle stress and a lot of 'no thank you', 'maybe in the furure. or downright 'rude' customers.

What is the $50.00 background check it appears the company that does the back ground check is associated with Live Ops It reads Powered by Live Ops maybe this is how live Ops makes money to get a job you should not have to pay up front money.

when they do the background do they also look at you credit? i have a clean background but do to the economy my credit is horrible. Can someone please advise?

Don't bother to apply if you 60. Age is one of the initial questions when applying. Although I got the referral to LO from a student at a local university who had attended a lecture presented by a LO representative, when I applied the immediate response was they aren't hiring in California. Curious!? What location would have to do with it baffles me. I am looking for a technical support position rather than sales so this clearly isn't the company for me, for several reasons.

I participate in the licensed insurance line for Liveops and it not that bad. You pretty much get paid for how much you work. If you work 3 hours every other day the chances are you are not going to get many calls because they're many other agents that are on full time and know what they are doing so of course calls are going to be routed to them first. If you are going to consider doing it then make sure you are serious.

Anonymous said...

LiveOps is now signing contracts for independent agents and then not honoring them. I am not the only one. USED to be a good company, now just another scam.

Anonymous said...

I have worked for liveops for 3 yrs and I am forever greatful to have a job where I can sit down whenever I want and sell products to people who call me. After 21 yrs of working the same job I was let go because I made too much money. I did not panic, I really didn't because I knew on my way home I had a job waiting for me and by the third week I was making what I made at my other job. When cash is short I log in and sell for hours and have the extra cash. I worked them full time for 7 months and made VERY good money. Don't forget the $50.00 background check is tax deductable so is the extra phone line and alot of other stuff.Yes there are rules u have to follow but what work enviroment doesn't have rules. Now that being said, if you are not capable of sounding happy and getting someone to buy something they had not intended, such as an upgrade to the product, then don't apply. You also can take the lower end calls they only pay .15 cents a minute compared to .25 a minute but you also can make more money by adding extra cheese to the pizza. Yes we do Pizza Hut, so there is a variety of things you can sell. There was a question about your credit file, yes they check it, your bankruptcy has to be a year old before applying, I got 4 of my friends hired there are thye all seem really happy, well one couldn't sell so yes she was let go, but I told her it wasn't for her in the firs place. So YES it is a real job, about the person who said they are suing and gettingj $200,000. That person is full of CRAP. So if you wanna apply now is the time for christmas customers. They will stop hiring around March. so jump in and give it a shot.

At first I thought it was a scam too! When you first start with them you hardly get phone calls- when you do- the invoice comes out the next day & your surpirsed you seen you only made $7 or less.

I started noticing something was fishy, when I worked over 3 hrs for them & when I checked my invoice it showed 1hr and some minutes. I contacted them about this issues, and their response was- the phone panel is not accurate?

Then one day, I took 3 phone calls for 27 minutes & I invoice over $70? A few days later, my acct is suspended for a breach in contract, because of voicemail! Now you make the decision & work for $2 an hr!

I don't know if it's a scam or not but I'm sorry I wasted $65 for the background. I went through all the training, did my 15 calls and then I tried to get on the schedule...not happening! I went in when the supposed schedule was coming out, right off the bat there were NO green blocks. If I sat there long enough I could see a box here and there flash green for a second. I have better things to do with my time. I don't recommend it

LO will terminate agents without showing offending infraction (if, in fact, there even was one).

Never heard of a company hiring expert to 'up their profit margin' to 'go public' with stocks.....proceed to LOWER payscale to do so, and then to NEVER go public.

So....the deal was to up profit margin for higher profit for the company....no going public.

Seemed to work......(as much as the LO forum trolls to, anyhow).

LO is ok for side money (kind of). After watching and feeling the pay go DOWN progressively for TWO years plus..it is just a depressing place to work. Also the people...some, in their work 'forum,' are just so full of themselves, they give free 'tips' and then they chastise others, just to show off what THEY know. What they miss, is they are 'working' for LO for FREE doing that, just to get a virtual pat on the head from above.

Liveops is a very wicked Company. they are very racist! They send really wicked MEAN test callers, and these test caller's try to get you to slip up on Affinities and verbatim read scripts..How wicked is that? Very! I worked for them and they sent so many test callers that made fun of my name and the test callers actually use profanity to what type of company routes test callers who uses profanity? Only a wicked company whould do that. They dont care about the agent, they are quick to send you CE'S but never send feedback about how good you did on a call.. I would never reccommen them to anyone. Their are other work from homes Jobs Like Arise.com Convergys.com Those are good company's and they value their agents just like they do for their customers.

Your credit must not stink THAT bad. If you owed more than 10,000 in past due debt you will fail the credit check. If you have more than one bankruptcy, you will fail the crefit check. Don't throw your money away.

LIVEOPS IS TOO A SCAM. They are in with the company that does a so called background check. They will never tell you why you failed a background check, because they go by what the rest of your paperwork shows, and then decide from that, and use the background check excuse.
I personally know the Senior Vice President of this scam company.

Mara said...

Well, it IS a legit company to work for. However, you come into the company in the "blind" from the start, meaning no personal advise or contact, nothing, except to sign up for training, buy your 2nd phone line and a headset phone system and go into the blitz on the initial program you sign up for. It was frustrating at first, spent 2 weeks in training, and then the fun started happening....You either got scheduled and sitting for hours with NO phone calls coming in, to suddenly more phone calls than you could handle due to client problems. Ok, we were there....Some of the scripts were so bogus, it was hard to tell folks calling, the audacity of the scripts..."We're sorry you weren't paid, we're working on it"..Oh my and transfers actually weren't going anywhere, so the poor folks calling in would say "Oh please don't transfer, we never get transferred and not paid in over a month"...I spent much time with callers, balancing out their monthly allotments and actually helping them get their online time sheets balanced. And the thanks from LO? CE about "you aren't repeating what they say"? Excuse me, but those people calling in to say "I Haven't been paid in a month" do not need to hear a monkey repeat "Uh, you're calling to say you haven't been paid in a month"? When they heard that, they'd usually reply..."What? You didn't hear me? What???"...So I gave my best shot, but realize some of the clients LO's represents are not up to par...and we're only used to handle the worst case calls, and then written up for it. That is the part of LO I do not like...I have my own company and customer service has always been exceptional, but I tried this because someone else said to check it out. And I did....You either become addicted to LO and grabbing the time slots or else you are out....and it really doesn't matter if you are good at it or not...It's not about quality...It's about how much $ you make for LO, period.
